Four Uzbek Women, Maldivian Man Arrested for Prostitution at Hiyaa Tower in Hulhumalé
MALÉ: Four women from Uzbekistan and a Maldivian man were arrested on Saturday night on suspicion of running a prostitution operation from an apartment in a Hiyaa tower at Hulhumalé Phase II.
According to Maldives Police Service, the raid was conducted around 21:49 hrs on Saturday following a tip-off regarding prostitution involving foreign women, as well as the possession and use of drugs.
The suspects arrested include:
- Hussain Solah, 40, Cuba, R. Rasgetheemu (Maldivian)
- Zareema Gulamovena Dejuraeva, 40 (Uzbekistan)
- Dildora Egamnovaza, 31 (Uzbekistan)
- Shahuzodokhan Rusthamova, 28 (Uzbekistan)
- Umidabonu Nemarova, 34 (Uzbekistan)
Police said all five were detained during a court-authorized search of an apartment in Hiyaa Tower 12, identified as the crime scene. Solah and Dejuraeva are believed to have been leading the operation.
Authorities seized more than USD 19,100 and MVR 18,000 from the apartment during the raid.
Following their court appearance, Solah and Dejuraeva were remanded for 10 days, while the remaining three women were remanded for five days.
Police said the case remains under investigation.
