Colombo, Police arrested 322 motorists for drunk driving during a special operation carried out on Christmas Day, according to the Daily Mirror.
As part of the operation, police checked 29,539 individuals and arrested a total of 493 suspects, including 15 people directly linked to criminal activities.
Among those detained, 179 suspects were wanted under existing warrants, while 88 others had open warrants against them. In addition, 36 individuals were arrested for reckless driving.
Police also reported 4,414 traffic offences on Christmas Day alone, highlighting intensified enforcement to curb road violations during the holiday period.
