Pakistan, Bangladesh Agree to Boost Defence Cooperation, Combat Disinformation

DHAKA: Pakistan and Bangladesh have agreed to deepen bilateral defence cooperation and intensify joint efforts against disinformation and emerging security threats, the Pakistani military said on Thursday.

During an official visit to Dhaka, Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC) General Sahir Shamshad Mirza met Bangladesh Army Chief General Waker-Uz-Zaman at the Army Headquarters, where the two commanders discussed ways to strengthen military-to-military ties, according to a statement from Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

The meeting reviewed the regional and global security landscape and highlighted the importance of enhanced coordination between the armed forces of both countries. Discussions also focused on expanding training exchanges, joint exercises, and counterterrorism cooperation.

Both sides voiced concern over the proliferation of divisive and misleading information on digital platforms and called for collective measures to combat disinformation that could undermine stability.

General Mirza and General Waker reaffirmed their commitment to deepen collaboration across multiple areas of defence and security to address evolving regional challenges.
