Violent protests in Israel, demonstrations against Netanyahu intensify

Hundreds of people arrived outside the Prime Minister's residence and tried to remove security barriers

JERUSALEM: Protests against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu have intensified, with police using water cannons to arrest several people.

The demonstrations continued for a third day, with thousands of people taking part. The protests are being held against the dismissal of Shin Bet chief Ronen Bar and the decision to resume attacks on Gaza.

Clashes broke out between police and protesters on Thursday, as hundreds of people gathered outside the prime minister’s residence and tried to remove security barriers. Police used force and arrested several protesters.

Protests are also planned in Tel Aviv outside the Knesset military headquarters, where anger is being expressed against Netanyahu’s recent decisions.

On Wednesday, there were heated exchanges and scuffles between protesters and Netanyahu supporters, showing that political divisions are deepening in Israel. It should be noted that Netanyahu formed a right-wing government in late 2022, since which public reaction to controversial decisions has been growing.
