NEW DELHI – When U.S. President Donald Trump announced in a Feb 3 social media post that the United States would immediately scrap the extraordinary 50 per cent tariff on most Indian goods, businesses across India breathed a sigh of relief.
India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi quickly responded with a message of gratitude, writing: “Big thanks to President Trump on behalf of the 1.4 billion people of India for this wonderful announcement.”
