The Consulate General of Sri Lanka in Dubai has announced a donation of LKR 25 million (Sri Lankan Rupees Twenty-Five Million) to the Rebuild Sri Lanka Fund to support relief and recovery efforts for victims of the recent Ditwah Cyclone.

The contribution aims to strengthen national efforts focused on economic recovery, infrastructure development, and social resilience, while addressing the urgent needs of communities affected by floods and landslides caused by the cyclone.

The donation was made with the support of Tristar Group Chief Executive Officer Eugene Mayne and was coordinated by Aruna Weerasinghe, a member of Tristar Group UAE’s finance team. It reflects the continued commitment of the Consulate General of Sri Lanka in Dubai to backing government-led initiatives that support post-disaster recovery and long-term rebuilding.

Accepting the donation at Tristar UAE, Consul General of Sri Lanka to Dubai and the Northern Emirates Alexi Gunasekera said the contribution symbolised the strong bond between Sri Lanka and its overseas community. He emphasized the importance of support from well-wishers during critical times and reaffirmed the Consulate General’s commitment to mobilising financial assistance and relief for Sri Lanka’s reconstruction efforts.

The Consulate General also expressed its appreciation to Tristar UAE, members of the Sri Lankan community, organisations, associations, charity groups, and UAE residents who contributed to the initiative, reaffirming its dedication to serving the interests of Sri Lanka and its people.
