Hamas has accused Israel of violating the Gaza ceasefire agreement by refusing to reopen the Rafah border crossing with Egypt, despite the group continuing to fulfill its part of the truce.
As part of the agreement, Hamas handed over the remains of two Israeli captives—85-year-old civilian Aryeh Zalmanovich and Master Sergeant Tamir Adar, 38—whose bodies were transferred via the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC). Hamas has so far returned 15 sets of Israeli remains and previously released 20 living captives, with about 13 more bodies expected to be repatriated once recovery efforts, hampered by Israeli military control in parts of Gaza, are completed.
On the same day, Israel returned the bodies of 15 Palestinians who had died in Israeli custody to Gaza, where they were taken to the Nasser Medical Complex for identification.
The exchange highlights ongoing tensions over the implementation of the truce, with Hamas claiming compliance while accusing Israel of obstructing humanitarian access through Rafah.
