India Arrests Two Linked to Hadi Murder Case as DMP Clarifies Suspects’ Escape

Indian authorities have arrested two individuals accused of assisting the killers of Inqilab Moncho spokesperson Sharif Osman Bin Hadi, the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) said on Sunday, citing sources in border areas.

In a press release, the DMP also clarified its position on reports concerning the escape of the prime suspects in the Hadi murder case, saying its information was based on confessional statements from arrestees in Bangladesh and corroborated by multiple field sources.

The clarification followed reports in Indian media quoting Meghalaya Police and the Border Security Force (BSF), which denied claims that the suspects had been traced or that their associates had been detained on Indian territory.

According to the DMP, several individuals who helped prime suspects Faisal Karim and Alamgir Sheikh cross the border have been arrested in Bangladesh. “Based on their confessional statements, we confirmed that the perpetrators have crossed the border,” the DMP said.

Addressing contradictory reports about the detention of two Indian nationals, identified as Purti and Sami, the DMP said the information originated from intelligence gathered in border areas. “Multiple sources in the border areas informed us that the Meghalaya authorities detained two individuals who assisted these criminals in entering India and finding shelter there. Based on this information, we shared the news of their detention,” the statement added.

The DMP reaffirmed its commitment to bringing the perpetrators to justice and expressed confidence that the Indian government would extend full cooperation in the arrest and extradition of the fugitives.
