Union HM Amit Shah lands in Srinagar

Srinagar, Oct 23: Union home minister Amit Shah arrived in Jammu and Kashmir on October 23 for a three-day visit. This is his first visit to the union territory since the abrogation of Article 370 in August 2019, officials said.

The Union home minister will chair a high-level meet with security and intelligence chiefs at Raj Bhawan in Srinagar in the wake of an escalation of violence in Jammu and Kashmir.

He was received by Lt Guv Manoj Sinha on his arrival from Delhi. Senior police and officers of the civil administration also were present on the occasion.

Amit Shah will also pay tribute to the martyrs of the Pulwama attack. He will spend time with the jawans and is likely to have a meal with them. He will also pay tribute to the slain personnel of the Central Reserve Police Force.

Apart from this, Amit Shah will inaugurate the first international flight between Srinagar and Sharjah in the UAE via video conferencing.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah soon after his arrival also visited residence of slain CID inspector Parvez Ahmed in Nowgam Srinagar to offer condolences with his family. Parvez was shot dead by militants in June 2021.
