Srinagar, Feb 09: The government Tuesday said schools in Srinagar shall open from February-20 for the implementation and monitoring of activities specified to COVID-19 standard operating procedures (SOP).Chief Education Officer (CEO) Srinagar, Manzoor Ahmad Kumar said, “Schools shall remain open for the implementation and monitoring of activities specified from February-20.”“In the same context various instructions are hereby conveyed for all the concerned to follow in letter and spirit regarding implementation of SOPs, Health and hygiene and other safety protocols before and after opening of schools,” he said.In an order issued on Tuesday, Kumar said, “Heads of all government and private schools shall conduct meetings with their respective staff members to discuss and frame modalities regarding preparation for opening of schools for the implementation of SOPs issued by the government.”He said that the Zonal Education officers (ZEOs) shall conduct similar meetings with the Head of Institutions (HoIs) of elementary schools of their respective zones.“The preparations made in this context by high and higher secondary schools shall be monitored by district level committees,” it read.The order further read that the preparation for implementation of SOPs shall start from February-12 and monitoring of the same shall start soon after.While stating the SOPs, the CEO Srinagar have asked the concerned authorities to ensure proper cleaning and sanitation facilities in the school“Arrange for thorough cleaning and disinfecting of all areas, furniture, equipment, stationery, storage places, water tanks, kitchens, canteen, washrooms, laboratories, libraries, etc. on school campus and ensure air flow in indoor space.” he said.He also asked them to ensure working hand washing facilities in the school, availability of key supplies like thermometers, disinfectants, soaps and arrange for availability of these essentials. “The thermometer to be used should be a calibrated contact-less infrared digital thermometer and ensure sanitization of school transport before they start plying,” he said.
